After three months of closure, museums, cinemas, theatres, institutions and events venues have finally reopened, offering an array of exciting installations, displays and performances for everyone’s taste.
We have selected a few exhibitions not to be missed, from dance and tango opera, rising-star cellist recital, theatre performance, to NFT large-scale exhibition at K11 MUSEA, installations at Tai Kwun and M+ Museum, etc.
SELECTION OF EVENTS
MARIA DE BUENOS AIRES
For the first time in Hong Kong, this performance reveals the cross-genre charm of dance and tango opera, bringing together renowned choreographer Helen Lai, young conductor Vivian Ip, opera and Bel Canto singers, live music ensemble and dance artists.

JAMAL ALIYEV RECITAL: 4 CITIES
Turkish rising-star cellist Jamal Aliyev finally makes his Hong Kong debut with this spicy and heartfelt recital programme. Jamal Aliyev rapidly became one of the most sought-after cellists of his generation. As a centrepiece of his recital, he will be performing the captivating Fazil Say Sonata inspired by four Turkish cities.

TIT HONG LANE
This live performance brings together urban studies academics, theatre experts and actors, merging social record and historic archive with imaginative elements such as personal memories and stories, rebuilding every single detail of the Lane. Actors will lead the audience to explore the connection between space and memories.
14 – 22 May – Freespace, West Kowloon Cultural District
METAVISION
This large-scale showcase of over 200 NFT artworks at the cultural-retail landmark is paired with an extended programme of educational tours, workshops, talks and performances to discover, democratise and demystify the fast-growing sector of NFT art.

META NOSTALGIA
This pop-up NFT digital art exhibition features nine local artists. Situated in the centre of Causeway Bay, an iconic symbol of the city, Meta Nostalgia recreates the collective memories of the old Hong Kong through cutting-edge art technology, including interactive digital art installations and virtual reality.

DOUBLE VISION
This exhibition explores the notion of doubling, particularly that of “déjà vu”. It attempts to conjure up a sense of disorientation, of reality being hollowed out. It playfully foregrounds perception, by providing mirrored scenarios with a layout repeated on the two floors of the exhibition space, where one might experience the same situation twice.

NALINI MALANI: VISION IN MOTION
Nalini Malani is internationally renowned for her reverse paintings and immersive multimedia installations which often combine personal narrative with motifs from folklore, classical literature, and mythology. This exhibition highlights her distinctive methods of storytelling, addressing collective issues of social injustice.

SPINNING EAST ASIA SERIES II: A NET (DIS)ENTANGLED
The exhibition invites the public to experience the diverse spectrum of history and culture of East Asia through collections of contemporary art produced by sixteen prominent artists and artist groups from this region, engaging in a creative dialogue through the display of their works.
