Highlights of the Chinese Culture Festival 2026
The third edition of the Chinese Culture Festival (CCF) will run from June to September 2026. Presented by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and organised by the Chinese Culture Promotion Office under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), the festival will offer over 280 diverse programmes, including stage performances, extension activities, film screenings, thematic exhibitions, talks, workshops, and community initiatives.
Symbolism and Design of the logo
The official logo of the Chinese Culture Festival draws inspiration from the delicate latticework of a traditional Chinese window. This design symbolises Hong Kong’s special role as a “cultural window” to the world. At the centre of the lattice glows a luminous jadestone, representing the festival’s programmes — each one being a precious artistic gem of Chinese heritage.
A celebration of Chinese Legends and Folklore
This year’s theme, “Legends”, centres on Chinese legends and folklore, with a special focus on the culture of the Sui-Tang dynasties and the ancient capital of Luoyang. Programmes reinterpret traditional stories through modern lenses, blending classical elements with contemporary creativity to highlight the enduring vitality and innovative spirit of Chinese culture. Here are some highlights of the programme:
Opening: Lady White Snake
12 – 13 June
Grand Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Centre
The festival kicks off with the acclaimed dance drama Lady White Snake, presented by the Shanghai Grand Theatre. Under the artistic direction of Tan YuanYuan, a star-studded team of dancers brings the production to life. Blending ballet with traditional Chinese dance, the performance offers a fresh reinterpretation of the beloved legend, featuring iconic scenes such as “Borrowing the Umbrella on the West Lake” and “Flooding of Jinshan Temple.” Through evocative symbolic staging, it masterfully bridges ancient folklore with contemporary audiences.
