The Story of Two Cities: From Venice to Hamburg
9 October 2025 - 14 October 2025
$190 – $290EVENT DESCRIPTION
This October, at the 4th Hong Kong Early Music Festival, Concerto da Camera beckons you on a wondrous voyage—one that drifts from the shimmering canals of 17th-century Venice to the stately harbour of 18th-century Hamburg. Together, we shall wander through these storied port cities, where for centuries the tides have carried not only goods, but the lifeblood of culture and art. In their music, shaped by winds from East and West, North and South, we will taste the echoes of a world in vibrant exchange.
The Festival comprises four concerts. The first two concerts, The Exploration in Venice, spotlight early Baroque music from Venice alongside works by German composers inspired by the Venetian style. The final two concerts, The Golden Era in Hamburg, turn to Hamburg, presenting music by composers shaped by the city’s vibrant artistic energy.
The programme also features the world premiere of two newly commissioned works by Italian composer Mario Colbacchini and local composer Lee Wai Shan, drawing inspiration from the cities of Venice and Hamburg, respectively.
