Rosewood Front Row

19 March - 30 March

EVENT DESCRIPTION

In an elegant tribute to its five-year milestone, Rosewood Hong Kong invites discerning guests to indulge in the Rosewood Front Row programme from March 19 to 30, 2024, to discover a curation of art and culture-focused adventures, inspiring talks and culinary collaborations. This anniversary is marked by a tapestry of art, cultural, gastronomic, and artisanal experiences, reflecting the hotel’s continued commitment to sophisticated luxury lifestyle.

As a proud supporter of the Art Basel fair, Rosewood Hong Kong is introducing its international and local network of art and cultural luminaries, providing the opportunities for our guests, communities, NGOs, and school partners to get up close to learn and appreciate their artistry.

Front Row: Crafting a Culture of Creativity

Dive into the world of international art and design with the inaugural event in the Front Row culture series. Rosewood Hong Kong brings together a panel of international art and design luminaries to explore the pivotal role of art, design, and heritage in shaping our collective future and crafting a sense of place on March 19 at M+. The talk features Amsterdam-based architect Piet Boon and artist Frederik Molenschot, world-renowned Hong Kong architect Dr. Rocco Yim, Trish Luyckx, Chief Design and Project Services Officer at Rosewood Hotel Group, and is moderated by Marisa Yiu, Executive Director and Lead Curator of Design Trust.

In addition, Rosewood Hong Kong will feature Frederik Molenschot’s artwork ‘S TATI CA’ at the Gallery Lobby on level two of Rosewood Hong Kong between March 17 to April 2, 2024. The work is a manifestation of site specificity, a dynamic sculpture that metamorphoses in response to the unique characteristics of its surroundings. Central to this specific piece are two chairs, seemingly distinct yet intricately merged into a sculptural narrative. The chairs themselves embody clarity in structure, but within, an enigmatic clove-like presence beckons, inviting viewers into a world of discovery. Within the chairs, a microcosm unfolds – a bustling community of grass people populating some areas, while other spaces offer a more serene retreat. The strategic placement of two seating areas, facing each other, transforms the artwork into a social space. It becomes a meeting point, encouraging interaction among visitors who, in this shared experience, contribute to the ever-evolving narrative.

Rosewood will also invite local design students from Polytechnic University to have a close encounter with Fredrick and Piet Boon, to delves into the intersection of art, design and heritage from an international perspective.

In Conversation with Serpentine Gallery

To kickstart Art Basel Hong Kong week, Trish Luyckx, along with Serpentine Gallery’s CEO Bettina Korek, will co-host an art-led conversation on March 25 at Asaya Kitchen, featuring commissioned Korean artist and the designer of this year’s Serpentine Pavilion in London, Minsuk Cho, and South African architect Professor Sumayya Vally, who is also Serpentine Pavilion 2021 Designer.

Art Appreciation in the Vertical Estate
Through an Artistic Journey of Discovery, guests can explore the hotel’s extensive private art collection during a grand tour of the building by the hotel’s resident art ambassador, who will introduce the diverse array of sculptures and paintings situated throughout the hotel.

Craftmanship

As Rosewood Hong Kong celebrates five years of meticulously honing its craft, it embraces this milestone year with an opportunity to champion and showcase the talents of other skilled craftsmen and partners. With a commitment to providing guests with exceptional experiences, Rosewood Hong Kong offers immersive workshops, masterclasses, or engaging collaborations to create memorable moments for guests to learn, engage, and appreciate the art of craftsmanship.

A Masterclass in Pasta Making

In its commitment to culinary excellence, Rosewood Hong Kong is pleased to welcome Chef Giovanni Polcari from BluHouse to lead an interactive Pasta Making Masterclass. Participants will immerse themselves in the artistry of crafting ravioli parcels and the finesse of shaping slender ribbons of tagliatelle, thereby enriching their understanding of Italian gastronomy. This encounter reaches a crescendo with a live demonstration by Chef Polcari, who will artfully prepare the fresh pasta, ultimately pairing it with BluHouse’s exquisite, handcrafted sauces. The pasta making class is on March 23 from 2 to 4 pm, priced at HKD1,988 +10%.
