Isabelle Faust and Alexander Melnikov: Four Modernist Visions
6 February - 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
EVENT DESCRIPTION
Renowned for their extraordinary musical partnership and profound interpretations, Isabelle Faust and Alexander Melnikov captivated Hong Kong audiences in 2023 with their complete cycle of Beethoven’s Violin Sonatas. The Gramophone Award-winning duo returns after three years with a fresh and compelling programme, reimagining the modernist spirit of the early 20th century through works by four distinct composers: Prokofiev’s bittersweet lyricism, Shostakovich’s dramatic sarcasm, Schoenberg’s mature epitome of 12-tone technique, and Busoni’s enigmatic poetry. Join us in this fascinating evening with a concluding ‘Music in Words’ dialogue between the artists and Prof. Daniel Chua, offering illuminating insights into this recital that both challenges and inspires.
