The world’s first digital aquarium, “BLUTOPIA” brings on a multi-sensory odyssey.
5 exhibition zones inspired by the big blue in an immersive experience of art and ecology
Hosted by local non-profit organisation A.L.A.N (Artists Who Love Animals and Nature), “BLUTOPIA” is the world’s first digital aquarium designed by 12 creative units from around the world. Marine research data is transformed into an immersive underwater art experience that spans 3,000sqft at AIRSIDE. Book your 30-minute experience via NF Touch to embark on a fascinating journey transcending five immersive zones, built according to the unique characteristics of different ocean layers.
The exhibition includes mesmerizing artworks like “SYMPHILÍA”, a large-scale coral reef installation that fuses Mixed Reality (MR) with the art of crochet, highlighting the mutual symbiotic relationships present in the ocean. Don’t miss the “COLOURFUL JELLIES”, a giant interactive light installation that simulates the dazzling light emitted by jellyfish when they sense the proximity of other species. You’re also invited to unleash your creativity with German artist Philipp Artus’s immersive interactive installation, “AQUATICS”, to create entirely new species of deep-sea creatures!
Immerse in the light and shadow in the digital art experiences and explore the beautiful yet delicate marine ecology. And we invite visitors to join us to become protectors of the big blue. The BLUTOPIA digital aquarium has an educational space called “Hidden”, where visitors can unlock underwater secrets through the work of Hong Kong’s only marine research facility – The Swire Institute of Marine Science (SWIMS). Here they can further learn about marine ecology, the mystery of gender, and stories about the ocean such as “The 52Hz” — the world’s loneliest whale. The exhibition aims to spark the curiosity of both adults and children alike, foster their empathy and critical thinking skills, and to reimagine the future of the aquarium.
During the exhibition period, AIRSIDE will broadcast works of BLUTOPIA’s contributing artists on all screens at the shopping mall three times a day, aiming to bring an all-embracing “Ocean Moment” experience for all visitors.
