The New Year countdown is around the corner.
To enjoy the festive season in Hong Kong, we have selected exhibitions, performances and experiences not to miss, from family concerts, musicals and dance performances, to Christmas markets and digital art experiences, as well as a major exhibition of masterpieces, and Cantonese opera celebration.

THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS LIVE IN CONCERT
Come experience Tim Burton’s timeless holiday classic on the big screen in its full glory, with Grammy-winning composer Danny Elfman’s music score performed live with the film by Hong Kong Philharmonic orchestra.

Based on the DreamWorks animated motion picture, Madagascar – The Musical follows all your favourite friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of Madagascar.
14 – 24 December – Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts
Hong Kong Ballet’s festive family favourite returns to bring holiday cheer in a wondrous celebration of early 20th century Hong Kong’s history, characters and natural beauty. You will enjoy Tchaikovsky’s timeless score performed live by Hong Kong Sinfonietta.

West Kowloon Cultural District invites you to enjoy the holiday season brimming with its first ever WestK Christmas Fest, featuring speciality stalls, live music performances, Art Park Christmas workshops for children and a spectacular display of dazzling lights.

The world’s first digital aquarium brings the majesty of the ocean in a multi-sensory journey through digital art, presented in five immersive zones built according to the unique characteristics of different ocean layers. Don’t miss the large-scale coral reef installation and the giant jellyfish light installation.

BOTTICELLI TO VAN GOGH: MASTERPIECES FROM THE NATIONAL GALLERY, LONDON
A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see for the first time in Hong Kong the finest masterpieces from the National Gallery, London. The exhibition features world’s finest masterpieces painted by fifty influential artists, spanning more than 400 years of Western art history.

This is the first performance since the establishment of Hong Kong Cantonese Opera Troupe with the famous veteran Cantonese opera actor LUNG Koon-tin, MH, as artistic director, guiding young musicians of the instrumental group to transmit the knowledge of this art form.
