The month of October is extremely rich in art and culture festivals, musical and dance performances, as well as diverse exhibitions and immersive experiences.
So we have selected for you some events not to be missed.
SELECTION OF EVENTS
Asia’s leading international fine art fair will feature artworks spanning over 5,000 years of cultural history, from ancient Chinese bronzes through to contemporary art, with a focus, once again, on Hong Kong’s art and antiques galleries, as well as art institutions.
5 – 8 October – Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), Wan Chai
La Traviata (“The Fallen Woman”) is Giuseppe Verdi’s most immediate opera, a touching yet tragic love story. This grand production will feature the most sought-after overseas artists. Performed in Italian with Chinese and English Surtitles.
5 – 9 October – Grand Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Tsim Sha Tsui
This immersive media art exhibition is a renowned digital art exhibition seen by 3.2 million people in Korea, representing the re-interpretation of various elements and spaces in nature with the theme of Eternal Nature.
7 October – 7 January 2023 – K11 HACC, Quarry Bay
KAZUMASA NAGAI: FROM NOW TO ETERNITY
This is Kazumasa Nagai’s first retrospective in Hong Kong, showcasing more than 100 selected posters and original etchings works since late 1950s. At his age of 93, Kazumasa Nagai is widely recognised as one of the most acclaimed Japanese designers and printmakers in the twentieth century.
30 September – 12 October – K11 Art and Cultural Centre, K11 MUSEA, Tsim Sha Tsui
The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil) and Hong Kong Ballet (HKB) join forces to offer a double premiere: the Asia premiere of HKB Artistic Director Septime Webre’s choreography of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, preceded by the world premiere of The Last Song by HKB Choreographer-in-Residence Ricky Hu Songwei set to music by J. S. Bach.
14 – 16 October – Grand Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Tsim Sha Tsui
The exhibition will spotlight mixed media paintings created in the past two years by Hong Hao, one of the most active conceptual artists in China from the late 1990s.

A TRIBUTE TO CANTONESE OPERA LEGEND SUN MA SZE TSANG
A rare opportunity to see four of the great Sun Ma Sze Tsang’s signature Cantonese operas, interpreted in the spirit of the master by Hong Kong’s brightest emerging talent.
22 – 24 October – Grand Theatre, Xiqu Centre, Tsim Sha Tsui
KNOWLEDGE OF DESIGN WEEK (KODW)
KODW assembles over 30 industry experts, entrepreneurs, and creatives in fields including architecture and urban planning, healthcare, and arts and culture to explore its 2022 theme ‘Regeneration by Design’.
