53rd HONG KONG ARTS FESTIVAL

The iconic festival will feature more than 1,300 international and local artists in over 125 performances of more than 45 programmes, and about 300 PLUS, outreach and education events. It will open with the Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna under the baton of revered Maestro Donato Renzetti, performing the music of Rossini and Mendelssohn.

The classic martial arts dance drama is back to the stage after nearly ten years, utilising cutting-edge multimedia projection technology, sophisticated lighting, an award-winning musical score, and a stage design featuring a gleaming pool of water to evoke the breathtaking and dynamic atmosphere of the story.

AWOL ERIZKU: QUAQUAVERSAL

Los Angeles- based conceptual artist Awol Erizku is back in Hong Kong with this bold showcase, featuring paintings, neon installations and a newly unveiled series of bronze sculptures, build on the artist’s ongoing engagement with the city, first initiated in his 2018 exhibition Slow Burn.

JAAP & NIU NIU

Following his sensational performance of Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto with the HK Phil and Maestro Jaap van Zweden in 2022, Niu Niu returns to complete the piano concerto cycle with the relatively less performed Third concerto. Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony represents the great Russian composer’s mastery of orchestration and his ability to evoke powerful emotions through music.

TONIGHT WITH THE IMPRESSIONISTS, PARIS 1874 – AN IMMERSIVE EXHIBITION IN VIRTUAL REALITY

Organised in collaboration of Musée d’Orsay to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first Impressionist exhibition, this exhibition integrates unpublished research materials, 3D reconstruction and immersive VR technologies, providing a 42-minute long VR experience that will bring visitors on a journey to explore the origins and influences of the Impressionist art movement.

ALGORITHMS OF LONGING

The group exhibition charts complex ideas, desires and resonances in the Asian diaspora, situated in conversation with works that speak to post-Socialist and post-human longings. It brings together works by Amanda Ba, Ching Ho Cheng, Oscar yi Hou, Yifan Jiang, Lawrence Lek, Jarod Lew, Paulina Olowska, and Stipan Tadić.

GREAT PIANO CONCERTOS: PAVEL KOLESNIKOV PLAYS BEETHOVEN

Piano virtuoso Pavel Kolesnikov makes a highly anticipated return to Hong Kong to perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No 4 with the orchestra and Music Director Christoph Poppen, in a programme which also features Schumann’s majestic Symphony No 3, “Rhenish” and the world première of Hong Kong composer Hui Tak-cheung’s Remains for Those Remain.
