To help you curate your cultural month of June, we have selected eight events celebrating music and cinema.

HKIFF CINEFAN RETROSPECTIVE: FOR EVER GODARD
The Cine Fan retrospective presented by Hong Kong International Film Festival celebrates Jean-Luc Godard (1930-2022) and showcases 56 films directed by the late French filmmaker, as well as a reference film directed by his partner, Anne-Marie Miéville.

Paying homage to the late French New Wave giant Jean-Luc Godard, HKIFF and Boogie Woogie Photography Gallery are taking film lovers on a transformative journey to rediscover the auteur’s ingenuity through a forest of images in this unconventional multimedia exhibition.

Out of Thin Air: Hong Kong Film Arts & Costumes Exhibition
OUT OF THIN AIR: HONG KONG FILM ARTS & COSTUMES EXHIBITION
Part of the Hong Kong Pop Culture Festival 2023, this exhibition takes the visitors behind the scenes by displaying iconic costumes, props, sets designs, drawing manuscripts, paraphernalia, videos and reconstructed scenes of workshops, highlighting the role of art and costume design in film production.

WITH THE SUN, SHE QUELLS THE NIGHT – A TRIBUTE TO REBECCA PAN
Conceived in close collaboration with Rebecca Pan, the exhibition brings together archive materials from images, costume, music records, news clippings, exploring the defining moments in the life of the Hong Kong cultural pioneer, whose career spans across entertainment, music and art, and who continues to inspire emerging talents today.
10 June – 23 Oct – CHAT, The Mills
Inspired by France’s Fête de la Musique (World Music Day) taking place in more than 750 cities in 120 countries on 21 June and celebrating the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere, Make Music, Hong Kong! takes up the tradition, showcasing a mix of amateur and professional artists of local or foreign origins.

SUMMER JAZZ 2023 – VIBES ON VELVET
The three concerts Vibes on Velvet will feature the Saturday Night Jazz Orchestra conducted by Japanese Taka Hirohama, well-known leader of the Hong Kong Big Band Jazz Federation, and will pay tribute to iconic jazz composers, singers and musicians.
26 – 28 June – Hong Kong City Hall Theatre
Back after a three-year hiatus, the Festival is once again bringing an assembly of outstanding opera troupes specialising in different theatrical genres, featuring nine programmes which showcase the splendour of Chinese operatic art in all its glory, in particular, three versions of The Legend of the White Snake.

SummerFest 2023
The annual large-scale outdoor event, covering over 30,000 square meters in the core of Central, will provide diverse special activities related to the theme of this year, “Fun in the Sun”, from a special One Citybus exhibition and a creative fair, to children activities, concerts and workshops.
