The Doors

21 March - 8 April

EVENT DESCRIPTION

From 21 March to 8 April and coinciding with the Hong Kong Arts Month, Bonhams presents a contemporary art show entitled The Doors, a group exhibition showcasing more than 15 paintings by twelve artists around the world, including Laura Berger, David Kaye, Jing Zhiyong, Stephen Wong Chun Hei and Chow Chun Fai.

A reimagination of the very nature of paintings as symbolic doorways, through which viewers exit from reality to enter a world of new perspectives and experiences, these paintings open a doorway to varying journeys across the landscape of dynamic visuals and emotions, from a mystically static seascape in Jing Zhiyong’s Holiday Rhapsody, to a spiritual night scene of feminine figures in Laura Berger’s Soft Light Fresh Air, to walking into the uncanny video game world reinterpreted by Stephen Wong Chun Hei in Video Game Landscape: Monte Carlo at Home.

Highlights of the exhibition include:

  • Stephen Wong Chun Hei, Video Game Landscape: Monte Carlo at Home, 2024, acrylic on canvas, 30 x 40 cm
  • Laura Berger, Soft Light Fresh Air, 2022, oil on canvas, 152.4 x 116.8 cm
  • David Kaye, Evening Stroll, 2022, acrylic on metal panel, 71 x 47 cm
  • Jing Zhiyong, Holiday Rhapsody, 2022, acrylic on wood panel, 32 x 35 cm
