Benjamin Navet and Van Cleef & Arpels Art Installation

20 March - 28 April

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Van Cleef & Arpels celebrates spring with an extensive artistic collaboration with LANDMARK, turning Central into a flourishing homage to the season with the joyous art installations of French artist Alexandre Benjamin Navet, winner of the Van Cleef & Arpels’ Grand Prix Design Parade Toulon in 2017. The installation runs until Sunday 28th April.

The collaboration between Van Cleef & Arpels, LANDMARK and Navet is marked by a joint desire to make art accessible and inclusive for all, the resulting installation is as spirited as it is unexpected, creating surprise and joy at each point of engagement. Coinciding with Hong Kong’s Art Month in March, the entirety of LANDMARK has been transformed into a larger-than-life canvas for Navet’s vision. With an abundance of spring colours, Navet’s distinctive style brings life to an enchanting world of dreamy discovery to the public.

The beauty of nature and its metamorphoses have played a significant role in Van Cleef & Arpels’ history since its founding in 1906. Exploring this source of inspiration, Alexandre Benjamin Navet found a synergy between the Maison’s passion for the floral world and his personal pursuit of colourful compositions. Drawing from the Maison’s creative style, Navet has designed immersive installations that bloom into a joyful evocation of spring. Visitors passing through LANDMARK will step into the artist’s open sketchbook, finding themselves in the midst of a bucolic stroll. In keeping with Navet’s vision, sculptures, luscious bouquets and flowers in all shapes and sizes burst out of vases, intertwine over archways, and flourish on balconies – offering the public a new take on their surroundings.

With every new project, the seed of Alexandre Benjamin Navet’s creativity begins with hand sketches. When conceiving his blooming settings for Van Cleef & Arpels, he was particularly drawn to the intense glow of the Frivole collection, made of curved heart-shaped petals in polished gold with diamonds. The artist has transcribed the Maison’s emblematic style in highly coloured creations calling to mind the season’s spirit of renewal.
