EVENT DESCRIPTION
Presented by Wyndham Social, Jada Poon Photography, MeART Limited and Hong Kong Life and Death Studies Association, Still, With Us is a contemplative photography and narrative exhibition that examines these questions not with answers, but with presence. Curated as a gentle, experiential journey, it brings together portrait photography by Jada Poon and personal stories from those who have experienced sudden loss, anticipated loss, or are living through a long goodbye. In a city where grief is often uncomfortably silenced or hurried past, this exhibition offers a rare and necessary space—to sit, to feel, and to remember that love does not end when someone leaves.
Through intimate portrait photography and first-person narratives, the exhibition brings together stories from those who have suffered loss and those living through a “long goodbye”—
anticipating the departure of a loved one. Visitors move through faces, voices, quiet prompts, and reflective spaces, encountering each story at their own pace. No one is asked to be strong, to “move on,” or to fix anything. Only to sit with what they carry.
In conjunction with the exhibition, a series of public programmes curated by Arnold Leung from Hong Kong Life and Death Studies Association will include panel conversations, workshops, performances, and talks — is curated to deepen community engagement with the theme of grief and remembrance.
While the exhibition offers a reflective space, these programmes provide opportunities for dialogue, learning, and creative expression. Topics range from fertility and miscarriage, transforming grief into advocacy and art, and navigating loss in Hong Kong’s high-pressure culture, to practical conversations such as understanding grief, supporting someone who is grieving, and pet loss.
Interactive workshops in music therapy, writing, sand painting, and expressive arts offer participants gentle pathways to process emotions and explore personal forms of healing.
Together, the programmes extend the impact of the exhibition beyond the gallery space. For visitors who wish to delve deeper or who find emotions stirred, they offer a way forward — whether through shared dialogue, professional insight, or creative practice. At the same time, they aim to raise awareness and foster more open, compassionate conversations about grief within our city.
