$180 – $520EVENT DESCRIPTION
The Miró Quartet is one of America’s most celebrated and dedicated string quartets. Formed in 1995, the Quartet has performed throughout the world on the most prestigious concert stages, earning accolades from critics and audiences alike. As the first string quartet ever to receive the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Award, as well as first prizes at several national and international competitions including the Banff International String Quartet Competition and the Naumburg Chamber Music Competition, the highly respected group ranks high among the finest chamber groups American has produced within the last three decades.
To open the 2024 Beare’s Premiere Music Festival, the Miró Quartet will include a new work by American composer Caroline Shaw, entitled Microfictions [Vol.1]. The youngest recipient of the Pulitzer Prize in Music and three-time winner of the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Classical Composition, Caroline Shaw wrote this work specifically for the Miró Quartet. It was co-commissioned by Premiere Performances (supported by Interlude.hk), together with the La Jolla Music Society, Carnegie Hall, Chamber Music Houston and the Shriver Hall Concert Series.
