Thai saxophonist Poh Chaichon Wongkham has become an essential voice in Hong Kong’s music scene since 2017. A prodigy under the tutelage of Koh Mr. Saxman, Poh is known for his soulful tone and versatility, having anchored major local projects like Good Funk Shui and Penthouse. His playing effortlessly bridges lyrical, emotive melodies with the high-energy demands of modern jazz and funk.
For this performance, Poh leads “Poh & The Gang,” joined by keyboardist Jerold Chu, drummer Nate Wong, and bassist Julz Bernales. These top-tier musicians bring years of collaborative chemistry and a refined intuition for groove to the bandstand.
“Poh & The Gang” centers on Poh’s original compositions and reimagined jazz standards. Beyond technical skill, the performance is an organic dialogue rooted in rhythmic vitality.
