EVENT DESCRIPTION

As Phillips celebrates its 10th anniversary in Asia this year, the company is thrilled to present a series of auctions, previews, and selling exhibitions this March at its Asia headquarters in Hong Kong’s vibrant West Kowloon Cultural District and its Phillips Perpetual boutique in the Pedder Building, Central. These events coincide with the city’s highly anticipated Art Week.

Taking place on 29 March, New Now: Modern & Contemporary Art and Design auction in Hong Kong presents a selection of works by sought-after artists alongside emerging names into dialogue with some of the very best Design works by the 20th and 21st Century masters. Phillips’ ‘New Now’ sales have long been a guidepost for collectors seeking rising stars on the brink of international acclaim. Staying true to this spirit, this season, Phillips is honoured to be the auction partner for The 2025 Sovereign Asian Art Prize, featuring works from more than 30 shortlisted artists across Asia in the sale. Funds raised through artwork sales will benefit The Sovereign Art Foundation’s Make It Better programme, supporting disadvantaged children in Hong Kong.

Highlights of the sale include Ayako Rokkaku’s triptych work, a dreamlike painting that features her iconic motif of adolescent girls. Each panel bursts with vivid hues and playful energy, showcasing the artist’s unique painting technique with her hands.

Professional Help on Rye rhymes with British artist and musician Issy Wood’s recent effort to distill food as a symbol and problem of desire from her routine activities. The motif of food signifies a dangerous fetishist impulse and speaks to a more intimate experience within our biological mechanics. Another standout is Volcano Blossoms by Dawn Ng, a multi-disciplinary visual artist from Singapore who has worked across a breadth of mediums, motifs, and scales. The work is shortlisted for the 2025 Sovereign Asian Art Prize.
