[Music as Gaming] Alice Yeung: Numeral Humanity

24 January - 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

$200

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Music as Gaming project, is an innovative commissioning programme that reimagines the relationship between composers, musicians, and performance. This platform invites three talented emerging composers from Hong Kong to challenge traditional paradigms of Western music performance by integrating the dynamism and interactivity of gaming into contemporary music composition.

In Numeral Humanity, Alice Yeung presents a theatrical exploration of music as a form of gaming, where precision, interaction, and real-time decision-making take center stage. This dynamic work features two percussionists and two pianists whose tightly synchronized performances are essential to the experience. Using an innovative face-tracking system set against a “Matrix-inspired” stage, the piece captures the micro-movements of the musicians’ faces to trigger sounds and visual elements. This interactive environment blurs the lines between human performance and technology, engaging the audience in a compelling dialogue about the nature of music and interaction.
