Kila Cheung: Side Space

12 July 2022 - 31 July 2022

Free

EVENT DESCRIPTION

The space between the absolute and its alternate.

Paying homage to the unwritten dictates of Hong Kong’s unique vernacular spaces, and Tai Hang’s long-standing garages, shops and dwellings. Salvaging the familiar, the overlooked, and the uncanny, SIDE SPACE aspires to explore the space between the absolute and its alternate, and aspires to stimulate an environment of diversity and perspectives.

Founded by Hong Kong based creative agency UNVEIL LIMTIED and in collaboration with curator Matt Chung, the SIDE SPACE’s first initiative will be a collaboration with Kila Cheung. Paying tribute to the garage culture in Tai Hang while also continuing his “Twinkle Twinkle Little Guys” series, which Kila turned different road lights into his characters. On this occasion Kila revitalised an abandoned taxi door with his signature childishness touch of art.
