Jenna Gribbon: A Domestic Cast

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Gribbon’s work focuses on depicting the actions of seeing and being seen and capturing the layered dynamic that exists between artist, subject and viewer through contrasts and dualities.

The title A Domestic Cast directly refers to the personal aspect of her work, ‘domestic’ meaning related to the home and family. The cast that populate her works are Gribbon’s family, her wife, Mackenzie Scott, and her son, Silas in the setting of the home they reside in everyday.

The question of what truly is an insight into the artist’s daily life and what is a constructed scene of apparent intimacy runs throughout the exhibition, as the viewer is asked to wonder what is real and what is fake.
