Jazz Signatures: Grace Kelly Quartet

Colourful, charismatic and radiating infectious positivity, multi-talented saxophonist, singer, songwriter-composer, band leader and internet sensation Grace Kelly is a bright star in the millennial jazz world.

This September she teams up with pianist Anastassiya Petrova, bassist James Dale and drummer Ross Pederson, making her Hong Kong debut at the Xiqu Centre Grand Theatre with an exciting repertoire of original work, arrangements of familiar jazz, pop and movie favourites, and tracks from her albums All That I Need and At The Movies.

Named DownBeat Critics Poll’s “Rising Star Alto Saxophone” for nine consecutive years, Korean-American Kelly performed an original composition as soloist with the Boston Pops at the age of 14, and at Barack Obama’s 2009 inauguration at the age of 16. Today she boasts a resume that includes 15 albums, performances at festivals around the world, and collaborations with major stars such as Dave Brubeck, Wynton Marsalis, Gloria Estefan, Harry Connick Jr, Questlove and Huey Lewis.

Kelly’s state-of-the-art brand of electro jazz-pop and inventive digital content are pushing her to the forefront of an adventurous new fusion scene. With her irrepressible energy, playful dance moves and ability to promote jazz to a new generation of fans, Kelly is an effervescent artist not to be missed.

This event is part of the Jazz Signatures programme.
