The 2021 Hong Kong Hymnos Festival will make its debut from 10th to 15th November 2021, featuring two major concerts and an educational talk.

‘Hymnos’ is Greek and source of the word hymns which means song of praise. It will be Hong Kong’s first ever to present this unique music genre in a festival that features a rich collection of hymn music written over time, and in different formats of singing, from Gregorian chant to choral singing and pop music.
The Hong Kong Hymnos Festival will feature some of Hong Kong’s best choral groups, ensembles, pianists and composers, playing and singing hymn music to the highest standards.

The list of remarkable performers includes celebrated pianist Colleen Lee, French lyric tenor Matthieu Sachot. Music songwriter singer Vansie and the chamber music ensemble NEXUS will showcase their original works.
Music educator and conductor Prof. Chan Wing Wah, JP, will present the Festival Choir formed by award-winning Good Hope School Choir and Wah Yan College Kowloon Boys’ Choir.

One of the highlights of the Festival is the special guest performance by Rev Christopher Chor and Rev Slawomir Kalisz from the Catholic Church, and Revd Arthur Ho and Revd Frankie Lee from the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui.

Beautiful hymn singing will be performed by choir groups Francis Choristers, St. Benedict’s Choir, St Cecilia Choir, Gabriel’s Message (GsM).

Accompanists and artists Phoebus Chan (piano), Quincy Chan (organ), Carlos Li (organ) will provide strong musical support to the various performing groups.

Award-winning conductor and Provincial Music Director of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Felix Yeung will give a special workshop on “Knowing Gregorian Chant”.
