Hong Kong Asian Film Festival 2021

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Broadway Cinematheque will present the 18th edition of the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival (HKAFF) from 27 October to 14 November.

The theme of the festival this year is ‘Emancipation in variations’. From its festival’s ambassadors to its lineup, the festival aims to unshackle audiences from their lock-down perspectives of things are, and free their long-quarantined imagination into action.

The festival will host films from 19 countries, spread across its 13 sections of various sizes and themes.

Hong Kong Asian Film Festival (HKAFF) is organised by the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival Society in association with Broadway Cinematheque.

Through its annual programmes, HKAFF is dedicated to the promotion of local and Asian films, and the spirit of original filmmaking. Our mission is to bring tremendous Asian films to Hong Kong; to serve as a platform for the exchange of latest cinematic ideas and knowledge between film professionals and audiences; and also to showcase outstanding debut features from new and upcoming filmmakers.

Since 2005, HKAFF has established the "New Talent Award" to encourage young Asian directors to bring inspiring films with an independent and non-mainstream spirit to local audiences.
