Distinguished British pianist Benjamin Grosvenor – widely acclaimed for his formidable virtuosity, musical sensitivity and the fine range of colours and character in his performances – has appeared with top orchestras around the world including the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Gewanhausorchester Leipzig etc. He brings to Hong Kong Brahms’ monumental Piano Concerto No 1 – a work of magnificent emotional intensity and creative genius – as he joins hands with Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Holly Hyun Choe, Chief Conductor of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and Music Director of the Orchestre National de Cannes.
The concerto is paired with the Asian première of Swedish composer Albert Schnelzer’s Burn My Letters – Remembering Clara, inspired by the fervent exchange of letters between Brahms and Clara Schumann, as well as Nielsen’s electrifying Symphony No 1 – a rare gem which instilled new energy and ideas into the Classical symphonic structure.
