EVENT DESCRIPTION
Volte is an electroacoustic recital co-presented by Linus Fung and Chris Cheung, featuring the reimagining and reinterpretation of classical musical pieces.
“Volta brackets [Volte, Plural]” refer to the different endings of a repeated musical passage — where exactly are they leading us? From daily routines and anniversaries to life and death, we inevitably experience the world through life cycles. As the saying goes, “History always repeats itself,” yet in the fast-paced modern world, we often grow numb to such repetitions.
Equipped with modular synthesized setups, Linus Fung (on clarinet) and Chris Cheung (on keyboards) will guide the audience on a musical journey through timeless classical works, including compositions by J. S. Bach, Camille Saint-Saëns, Franz Schubert, Johann Strauss, Arvo Pärt, and more, as well as some structured improvisations. This is an experience better felt than described — let us take a moment to reflect on our own “volte” together.
