Francophonie Festival 2022

EVENT DESCRIPTION

The Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau and the Alliance Française Hong Kong are pleased to announce  the start of the Francophonie Festival 2022. As every year, the Francophonie Festival is held around the key date of the International Francophonie Day, on March 20.

Completely online this year, events around French language and francophone cultures are held during the months of March and April. The French Grand Siècle, the 17th Century and Molière, who would have celebrated his 400 birthday this year, are in the centre of the program. The Swiss, Quebecker and French cinema programme are postponed until a later date.

The French Language Week is held from the 14th to the 21st of March, 2022. It is composed of competitions and animations about 10 selected words in 2022. Several events are held about the French Grand Siecle theme, King Louis XIV and Moliere’s theatre until the end of April. Two plays of Moliere are also broadcasted online by the Hong Kong Arts Festival.

Videos on the same theme and a rich and diverse website selection are available on our dedicated website. You can easily deepen your knowledge and satisfy your curiosity about Moliere’s century online. Many audiovisual contents will also be freely available thanks to our partners TV5 Monde Asie-Pacifique and the Institut Francais Paris. The Hong Kong Theatre association will also offer some extracts from several Moliere’s plays played and available on their website.

ABOUT THE ARTIST / ORGANISER

Founded in 1953, the Alliance Française de Hong Kong (AFHK) is a Hong Kong not-for-profit association dedicated to the promotion of the French language and culture. AFHK is the official and largest language institution for French in Hong Kong and in Asia with over 6,000 students annually. 12000 registrations a year for all ages of student !

With their team of 60 qualified native French-speaking teachers, they offer a large range of courses, including specialised courses, private tuition, workshops, immersion days, outings to museums or French dining experience and more.

Enjoying the patronage and support of the French Consulate General in Hong Kong, AFHK, is the only French cultural centre in Hong Kong. It organizes major cultural events each year, such as the French Film Festival in November and takes part in numerous programs of Le French May (an initiative co-created by AFHK in 1993), Make Music Hong Kong (from 2018) and the French-Speaking Festival (Francophonie). A rich 2018) program of social events, film screenings and conferences is regularly offered in our Jordan Centre.
