EVENT DESCRIPTION

Q9 Capital is pleased to announce the launch of Ethereal Realism, an art NFT exhibition in collaboration with Voxoglass, a new and innovative all-digital gallery set to open in Hong Kong in the third quarter of this year. Ethereal Realism is a physical showcase of Non-Fungible Tokens (‘NFTs’) featuring Voxoglass’s roster of Hong Kong and Asia-based artists. Taking place at the Q9 Crypto Hub, the exhibition runs from 4th May to 31st May, 2022.

Tying the artists together is a common thread – the underlying fragility and volatility of the human condition. The pandemic has been a time of reflection and introspection, sparking periods of adjustment and compromise, but also giving birth to resilience and tenacity. Exploring the many emotional facets of contemporary relationships – be they personal, romantic, business, political, and even situational – the artworks are not only resonant and relevant, but poignant and at times candid.

With arresting images that appear satirical and even farcical, the presentation is nonetheless engaging and sparks conversation. For example, Wong Sing Hoi’s colourful compositions appear detached from the physical world and border on the absurd. His NFTs consists of cartoon-like anthropomorphic characters amidst fantastical backdrops that allude to a more complex allegory. On the other hand, Nicholas MF’s NFTs are visual for the Red Herring fallacy. Much as a red herring acts to divert attention, the artist utilises striking compositions to draw viewer attention, requiring an active engagement to peer beneath and reflect upon the deeper themes contained within. Challenging traditional conventions of storytelling, he invites his audience to find their own interpretations.

With a unique Asian mindset and examining the human condition at its core, Ethereal Realism treads the fine line between reality and fantasy, or perhaps more appropriately, utopia and dystopia. Offering a fascinating and insightful perspective for all visitors, the exhibition promises to question existing notions. To create a more immersive experience, Q9 Crypto Hub is pleased to host a launch event (11th May) as well as two artist presentations (18th May and 25th May) to further introduce the featured artists and their artworks.
