EVENT DESCRIPTION

otherthings by THE SHOPHOUSE is pleased to present Bird Box by British potter Steve Harrison and carpenter Ben Casson. In the new series, each mug is nestled in a wooden case crafted with woods sourced from native timber in the UK. Rooted in Harrison’s Travelling with Tea experience and vision, the series transports the drinkers to where they feel at home. This mug-box duo is ornamental and adorning to the eyes while challenging the mug as a mere functional object. Despite over thirty years in the making, from bamboo tea baskets to leather cases, the latest collaboration marks Harrison’s ongoing search for the perfect match between mugs and travelling boxes. A cupboard at first glance, the box simultaneously displays the artisan spirit and mobility, marking the artistic journey of the two artists through the passage of time.
