EVENT DESCRIPTION

Award-winning Thai pianist Poom Prommachart makes his Hong Kong recital debut with a programme that is as personal as it is dazzling. From the world premiere of new works composed especially for him by renowned Australian composer Carl Vine, to Chopin’s complete Ballades, Liszt’s radiant Schubert transcriptions, and a heartfelt arrangement of Near to the Heart of God, the evening traces his life’s journey in music. Supported in his studies by the late Princess Galyani Vadhana, Poom has since been hailed as Thailand’s foremost pianist, with lyrical passion, artistry, and commanding stage presence that have won him top international prizes and acclaim on concert stages worldwide.

ABOUT THE ARTIST / ORGANISER

Born in Bangkok, Poom Prommachart is an internationally acclaimed pianist and educator. Recognized as one of Southeast Asia’s leading pianists, Poom was awarded Best Solo Performance (Instrumental-Music) at the 2023 BOH Cameronian Arts Awards and was named to the Rector’s List of Honour for outstanding graduates at the University of Montreal’s Doctor of Music Programme in 2022. He holds degrees from the Royal College of Music (RCM) in London, where he was awarded the prestigious Tagore Gold Medal by King Charles III, and he also studied at the Moscow Conservatory. Poom’s international career was launched after winning the Gold Medal at the Fifth Isidor Bajić International Piano Competition in 2010. Since then, he has performed with major orchestras worldwide, including the Kazakhstan Philharmonic Orchestra, Montevideo Philharmonic Orchestra, Worthing Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic, and Timișoara Philharmonic Orchestra.
