The New Year Countdown is around the corner!
To enjoy the Festive Season in Hong Kong with your family, we have selected various cultural happenings, from Christmas and Winter markets to dance and theatre performances, as well as joyful contemporary art exhibitions and a landmark dinosaur exhibition.
SELECTION OF EVENTS
A festive atmosphere is taking over the West Kowloon Cultural District, with a giant Christmas tree, as well as numerous happenings and activities, such as meet-and-greet with Santa Claus, music performances, handicraft workshops and charity bazaars.

PMQ celebrates the Festive Season with jazzy and swingy beats. Swing Dance Taster, Live Jazz Performance and Dance Party, walking meditation with sound relaxation, and Museek Guided Tour: in between jitterbugs and body rolls, families will enjoy their time.

AIRSIDE CHRISTMAS: RETRO ENCOUNTER
The festival will take everyone on a retro arts and cultural journey, including live performances, the first roller skating rink in Kai Tak, green festive experiences, and a Christmas Market featuring festive food and drinks, cultural and creative products.

“CHEERS!” SERIES: TECHNO CIRCUS
Performers of Japanese art troupe SIRO-A will mix dance and comedy mime with spectacular projection, light animation and pulsating electro beats, bringing the audience a ground-breaking interactive multimedia physical theatre performance with optical illusions.

BEN SIR’S DANCING ACADEMY – FROM TABOO TO BENBOO
In this joyous and educational dance theatre piece, Cantonese linguist Ben Sir takes the challenge of dancing, Ben Sir and the performers breathe new life to “vulgar” words and phrases through spoken lyrics and dance, throwing taboos out of the window.
20 & 21 Dec – Hong Kong Cultural Centre
JON BURGERMAN: FRIENDLY NEIGHBOURS
Expressing creativity and having fun is key to Burgerman’s practice, whose artworks are instantly recognisable. The iconic Sesame Street characters in this exhibition brings out the pleasure and joy to those who view them, perfect for the Festive Season.

This group show brings together seven acclaimed artists, each one visualising ‘Hello Kitty’ in their unique aesthetic style. From the streetwear influenced visuals of Japanese artist Charr Morita to the whimsical fancies of Australia-based artist Jessica Ng, a kaleidoscope of different perspectives brings a new dimension to this iconic character.

THE BIG EIGHT – DINOSAUR REVELATION
This landmark dinosaur exhibition boasts an unrivalled amount of original fossil material, some of the most complete fossil skeletons in the world, cutting-edge 3D renderings and the first scientifically accurate reconstructions of the world’s largest predatory dinosaur and the world’s largest flying creature.
