Visionnaire, the esteemed Italian meta-luxury design brand, in collaboration with Tang Contemporary Art, is proud to announce the solo exhibition “Behemoth” featuring the acclaimed artist Wu Wei at Visionnaire’s newly opened Hong Kong Embassy. This significant exhibition marks the first art showcase at Visionnaire’s flagship store in Asia, merging refined design with contemporary art.
In “Behemoth,” Wu Wei challenges existential questions through his innovative use of paper, a medium rich in cultural significance as a vessel of information and civilization. Drawing on the philosophical musings of figures such as Lieh-Tzu and Zen master Huineng, Wu’s work explores the dynamic interplay between chaos and order—a theme that resonates deeply in both traditional Chinese philosophy and contemporary discourse.
As Stephan Klee notes in his article “Active Texture”, Wu Wei employs traditional Chinese techniques to transform books and paper into fine fibers, questioning the durability of cultural values. The resulting material manifests as vibrant, undulating bodies that seem to grow organically from their surfaces, conveying a sense of life and movement.
