EVENT DESCRIPTION
In 2017, Marble Print & Clay (MPC) held the “Why Print” Biennale of Modern Printmaking Exhibition at Sensory Zero in Wong Chuk Hang for the first time. The second edition was held at the Openground in 2019. This year in 2022, “Why Print 3” Finale – Biennale of Modern Printmaking Exhibition is finally unfold. It is the final show of the “Why Print” Biennale series, and it is different from the past exhibitions.
In the past two years, the world struggled with the pandemic of Covid-19. Perhaps it is due to the several lockdowns Hong Kong experienced that led to an increase in interest and participation of printmaking, particularly from younger locals. Due to the influx, MPC is able to support and work with more emerging local printmaking artists.
This year, the creations and stories of more than 20 local artists are on display. Printing is an art that tests one’s willpower and skill. Each work is a challenge, oeen involving long production timelines. The insistence of fine quality to the very last detail is a value that MPC proudly uphold to the tradition of printmaking.
Organising exhibitions during the epidemic is hard-won. Through dedication, perseverance and desire to set new standards of fine art print, MPC enriches the Hong Kong artistic community and reaches audiences from all over the world, so print collectors and art lovers will certainly be eagerly looking forward to their shows.
MPC hopes that this exhibition will promote the exchange of art print collections and continue to inspire the inheritance of this crae, as well as to help promote the work of outstanding and emerging local printmaking artists.
