EVENT DESCRIPTION
Grotto SKW is pleased to kick off the Fall season with Wenda Yiu’s first one-woman exhibition. Wenda’s creative stimulus comes from ancient map, the way it was conceived in horizontal perspective at a time before satellites and GPS!
Using landmarks and icons from Hong Kong, she creates contemporary old maps with figural or formal signages, traditional Chinese brushworks and tsun (texture) strokes. Individually, each tells a story of the respective neighbourhood while collectively they form a nostalgic visual landscape of the city.
