Ukraine: A Love Story

EVENT DESCRIPTION

“In May 2022 I went into Ukraine to document the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia. It was my first time working inside a war zone as a photographer, and to see how war does to the people living there is an experience I could hardly put into words. I wish through these photos one can take a glimpse into the horror of war, and more importantly, the love these people shared amid the darkest hour.”

ABOUT THE ARTIST / ORGANISER

Dominic Chiu is a National Geographic Award Winning photographer based in Hong Kong. Since graduating from the University of Hong Kong, he has worked as a freelancer for publications and NGOs. He was the winner of the 2021 National Geographic Hong Kong Photo Contest, and was accepted into the 2022 New York Portfolio Review by the New York Times photo department. Currently he is working on a long-term project documenting stories of brain cancer patients in Hong Kong, hoping to uncover not only their struggles, but also their hope along a highly daunting path.

He is freelancing with the New York Times and various media. Work published includes BBC, National Geographic, The Guardian, Bloomberg, Forbes, etc.
