Timothy Sun, renowned Hong Kong and Macau Saxophonist announced today the release of his first album on www.gingermuse.com on 13 August, 2022 and the launching of his first solo concert, both titled S’way with Me, at The Box, Freespace, Art Park, West Kowloon Cultural District on 14 August, 2022.
Release of New Album S’way with Me
Timothy‟s new album, S’way with Me, will be available on www.gingermuse.com or at Ginger Muse store in Kowloon Bay beginning 13 August, 2022. The new album contains 10 new songs Timothy created in collaboration with six distinguished composers from Hong Kong and Macao.
Timothy Sun reveals, “The release of my solo album is one of the biggest dreams I had since I was 18. Not only will it mark a new milestone in my 15 years of saxophone performing career, it is also a long-awaited gift I‟ve promised music lovers who have supported me all these time.
“I feel so excited in launching my first album and solo concert, S’way with Me, next month. This wouldn‟t have been possible without the steadfast support of my producer Ginger Muse and my esteeming composers,” Timothy continues.
The list of composers who created the 10 new songs of different music styles in S’way with Me album includes Joyce CHEUNG, Harris HO, Pong LAW, Perry LAU, Joe LEI and Yin NG.
Debut of Solo Saxphone Concert S’way with Me
Timothy‟s first ever solo concert, titled S’way with Me, will debut at the The Box, Freespace, Art Park, West Kowloon Cultural District with two performances on 14 August, 2022 at 3:00pm and 8:00 pm. He will be playing a collection of classical pieces as well as the newly created songs.
Joyce CHEUNG, composer of the two songs „Does the sun sleep‟ and „Take off‟ in S’way with Me said, “Timothy stands out as a solo artist. He is a versatile and unique saxophonist who performs with his heart and soul.” Joyce will be the music director/band leader of S’way with Me Concert, leading an 8-piece ensemble including 4 strings, guitar, bass, drums and piano.
Timothy stated, “Together with my band I promise my audience a magical, refreshing and easy-listening evening experience at The Box on 14 August!”
ABOUT THE ARTIST / ORGANISER
One of the most prominent musicians in Hong Kong and Macau, Timothy Sun began his music studies at the age of seven. Sun became the first Chinese saxophone and clarinet student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama to be awarded a full scholarship for his Bachelor‟s degree in 2001. Since completing his studies, Sun has gone on to become a fixture of the Hong Kong music sceneasoneofitsinternationallyrecognisedmusicaltalents. HehasperformedattheCarnegieHall, Wigmore Hall, Barbican Centre and Shanghai Concert Hall as a chamber musician. In 2016 he received the Paul Creston Award in New York and, in recent seasons, has appeared in over a hundred recitals and orchestral concerts across Asia and Europe.In Hong Kong, Sun has worked with numerous Hong Kong-based composers including Fung LAM, Kim Kuok IP, Austin YIP, Joyce CHEUNG, Julie KUOK, Joyce TANG, Yin NG, Pong LAW and Charles KWONG, and has taken part in many cross-genre performances with artists ranging from dancers, choreographers, photographers, and multimedia artists.
Sun is one of the principal artists of Buffet Group and Vandoren Paris, and is additionally a founding member of the music group Smash, featuring harmonica, piano and saxophone, and released an original CD with the group in 2020.
Today, between his many performances and engagements, Timothy Sun also works as saxophone lecturer coach at the Macau Conservatory, The University of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Baptist University.
