EVENT DESCRIPTION

On 22 September, Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) launched THE MONSTERS × Hong Kong International Airport in collaboration with creator of the series Kasing Lung. In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the globally beloved THE MONSTERS series, the collaboration marks the beginning of its world tour with HKIA as the first stop. Among the highlights of the collaboration is the world’s largest KING MON installation, which stands 7 metres tall in the Departures Hall, alongside multiple photo spots featuring THE MONSTERS characters in the departure restricted area. A special limited-edition LABUBU vinyl toy exclusive to HKIA is also released as part of the collaboration.

HKIA has long been committed to promoting local arts and culture, showcasing Hong Kong’s creativity to the world through exhibitions, events, and artist collaborations. The characters from the THE MONSTERS series in this collaboration were specially designed for the airport, offering residents and travellers a refreshing artistic encounter.

The centerpiece of this collaboration is the world’s largest KING MON art installation, a brand-new creation by Kasing Lung. Towering at 7 metres, this HKIA-exclusive installation holds a paper airplane and sports a T-shirt stamped with “HKG,” symbolising its origin. From HKIA, KING MON will set off on a global journey, appearing in various forms across the world.

In addition, the East Hall of the restricted departure area features several THE MONSTERS-themed photo spots, including four 1.5-meter-tall installations of LABUBU and ZIMOMO. Each character is styled with travel-inspired accessories, from shopping bags and suitcases to holiday attire, bringing a playful, jet-setting vibe to the space. Two of the installations are paired with photo walls based on Kasing Lung’s original hand-drawn illustrations, offering travellers a whimsical, travel-inspired art experience.

From September 25 to October 15, HKIA will launch a promotional campaign to give away a limited-edition LABUBU@HKIA vinyl toy. Styled in the airport’s signature colour scheme, this exclusive collectible holds a boarding pass labeled “HKG to Monster Land,” making it a charming souvenir for fans and travellers.

The event also offers THE MONSTERS-themed stickers and a range of other exciting rewards, giving visitors the chance to enjoy the immersive art experience and leave with special mementos to take home from their visit.
