EVENT DESCRIPTION
ArtèThing Gallery is proud to present “Process and Progression”, a conceptual exhibition featuring works by four founders that highlight the process of creating art and the progression of ideas over time. The exhibition runs from June 4th to June 18th, 2023.
The works on display showcase the various ways in which the artists revisit their process of creation and evolution of their ideas over time. Kiesly Tsang’s work engages with collective experience and the transformation of the soundscape, to document an immersive event that integrates diverse voices and sonics. Maggie Chu’s work draws inspiration from the skyscrapers of Hong Kong and examines the interpretation transformation of space and time from 2D prints images to 3D sculptures. Mon Yau’s work explores the relationship between time and memory, and the ephemerality of everyday materials like soap, while Ng Kai Fung’s conceptual photography work explores the relationship between non-place, temporality, and existential anxiety.
The exhibition emphasizes the ways in which conceptual art can be a collaborative process that involves multiple voices and perspectives. It also highlights the intellectual and philosophical underpinnings of conceptual art, including its tendency to blur the line between art and documentation, and the value it places on the process of creation as much as the final product. Through their exploration of memory, sound, form, cultural and place, the artists invite viewers to engage with the themes and concepts of the exhibition in a deeper and more meaningful way.
