Soluna Fine Art is proud to present In Between Islands, the third solo exhibition of the Korean contemporary artist Park Yoon-Kyung with the gallery. After relocating to Jeju Island, known for its breathtaking landscapes, Park’s latest artworks draw inspiration from the island’s stunning scenery, rich culture, and unique dialects. Through vibrant colors and vigorous brush strokes, Park conveys the connection and communication between humans and the natural world, expressing her admiration for the beauty of nature. Park’s mastery in painting on translucent surfaces and creating three-dimensional installations with frames goes beyond the boundaries of traditional canvases. In this exhibition, the gallery space is transformed into an archipelago, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the artwork from various perspectives. Delve into the captivating world of In Between Islands, where nature and emotions intertwine in an artistic embrace.

ABOUT THE ARTIST / ORGANISER

Park Yoon-Kyung (b. 1976) was born in Seoul, Korea and received her M.F.A. from both the Goldsmiths' College, University of London and Hongik University. During her time in London, Park discovered the method of painting on silk and chiffon, which then became a huge turning point for her artistic career. By applying multiple layers of paint on translucent materials, she cleverly combines the recto and the verso of a canvas, exposing the space behind and turning all three spaces into one work. Park’s work breaks down the boundaries between dimensions in a more delicate and subtle way. She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Hong Kong, Korea, and the UK. Her works are acquired by numerous museums and private collections, including National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, Seoul Museum of Art, 63 Art Museum.
