EVENT DESCRIPTION

World-renowned photographer Michael Kenna brings his largest-ever Hong Kong exhibition, Japan: A Love Story, to H Queen’s, Central Hong Kong from April 25 to May 18, 2025. Featuring over 100 breathtaking handmade silver gelatin prints, this showcase reflects four decades of Kenna’s intimate connection with Japan’s landscapes, culture, and traditions.

As Japan remains a beloved travel destination for many in Hong Kong, Kenna offers a distinctive perspective—one shaped by a lifetime of artistic exploration and deep reverence for the country. Known for his dreamlike black-and-white compositions, Kenna’s work invites viewers to pause amidst the rush of modern life, to reconnect with the quiet, enduring beauty of nature and tradition.

Having drawn thousands of visitors in Tokyo, Los Angeles, and London, this landmark exhibition now arrives in Hong Kong, offering a rare opportunity to experience Kenna’s most extensive collection to date. Highlights include an immersive visual journey through his poetic landscapes and a behind-the-scenes documentary by French filmmaker Richard Bonnet.

Japan: A Love Story resonates deeply—is both a deeply personal meditation on Japan and invitation to reflect on our relationship with the landscapes that shape us.
