This summer, ifc mall Hong Kong is delighted to present a captivating summer curation in collaboration with innovative Japanese artist Ayumi Tsuchiya, showcasing her work for the first time in Hong Kong — an interactive wooden art installation themed ‘life is beautiful: a symphony of nature’ – ‘Melodic Woodland’. From 16 to 29 August 2024, the Oval Atrium at ifc mall will transform into a playful and enchanting woodland featuring five unique interactive zones.
Immerse yourself in this wondrous experiential installation, where exquisite wood craftsmanship harmonises with captivating sensory experiences. You’ll discover tranquil moments amidst the urban hustle and revitalise your mind!
A Fusion of Wondrous Wood Craft and Whimsical Melodic Harmony Creates A Multisensory Experience
Ayumi Tsuchiya is a talented Japanese artist who specialises in creating interactive works that seamlessly blend sound, touch and nature. Shortly after she graduated with the highest honours from Tama Art University in 2012, she was honoured with the Interactive Merit Award at the prestigious One Show in New York in 2013. Tsuchiya’s works are well recognised globally, and featured at art events, museums and science centres. She has also worked with renowned brands, continually pushing the boundaries of interactive art and design.
This summer, ifc mall Hong Kong is thrilled to partner with Tsuchiya to present her first interactive wooden art installation outside of Japan. Several of her pieces will be brought from Japan to Hong Kong to offer an unparalleled sensory experience where visitors will experience the symphony of nature and indulge in harmonious moments amidst the urban landscape.
Embrace Nature’s Harmonies: An Interactive Woodland Experience
Step away from the hustle and bustle, and discover the enchanting realm of the Melodic Woodland. Experience the enchantment and serenity of this wondrous art installation, where towering trees, whimsical melodies and delightful critters weave a captivating harmony. The soothing tunes of Tsuchiya’s unique wooden instruments will amaze and inspire you as you embark on a journey within this playful and magical woodland, where nature’s harmonies unfold through five enchanting interactive zones!
Each zone showcases Tsuchiya’s masterful woodworking: discover the joy of musical exploration with The Rolling Melody Xylophones, where rolling balls create harmonious melodies by hitting different musical notes; enjoy the captivating sensory experience of The Rhythmic Seesaw, which blends the playfulness of a seesaw with a cheery soundscape; and sit in Thumbelina’s Chair to be mesmerised by the whimsical tale and enchanting motion of the chair’s petals.
What’s more, you can marvel at the giant Enchanting Mushrooms and contribute your melody to the harmonious symphony at The Tree Pipe Chimes, all meticulously crafted to perfectly echo the theme.
