Make It Bloom, Make It Work HK’s Charity Auction 2023

The French Chamber Foundation is pleased to present Make It Bloom, Make It Work HK’s Charity Auction 2023. For the second time, Hong Kong art galleries and artists have come together to help and contribute by donating artworks to be auctioned for this worthy cause. Beginning November 1, a preview exhibition of the artworks will be hosted by Christie’s on the 22nd floor of their Alexandra House space, also marking the commencement of the silent auction. The exhibition will culminate in a live auction directed by Christie’s auctioneer Georgina Hilton during a captivating cocktail evening on November 3. Visitors are invited to attend the exhibition and place their bids online.
Launched in 2015 by the French Chamber of Commerce, Make It Work HK is a charitable organization registered under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance, Hong Kong SAR. The organization is committed to empowering the working poor in Hong Kong. Despite having jobs, approximately 1,550,000 individuals struggle to survive under the poverty line. The organization plays a vital role in improving their lives and creating opportunities for a better future.
To achieve its mission, Make It Work HK’s initiatives include:
1. Providing an Interactive Community: Make It Work HK fosters connections within the community through regular activities, providing much-needed support and empathy that significantly impact the mental and emotional well-being of its members.
2. Training for Job Skills: In addition to short-term relief, Make It Work HK offers training workshops to equip members with valuable skills that open up new opportunities and career paths.
3. Career Assessment and Vocational Training: Through personalized interviews, Make It Work HK’s dedicated social workers identify the competencies, experiences, interests, and needs of each beneficiary, enabling them to receive relevant training and support.
4. Mental Health Workshops: Recognizing the importance of mental wellness, Make It Work HK organizes workshops and activities designed by professional experts to help rebuild and maintain the mental health of its members.
5. Affordable Meals & Utilities Distribution: Make It Work HK provides affordable $10 lunches at its community centers, ensuring beneficiaries have access to nutritious meals. Additionally, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the organization distributed free protective masks and daily utilities.
The proceeds from the charity auction will directly fund the operation of Make It Work HK, enabling the organization to continue its impactful work.

ABOUT THE ARTIST / ORGANISER
The French Chamber Foundation was created by The French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Hong Kong, which has over 35 years of history of driving closer engagement between the French and local business communities. It comprises a close network of partners from across Asia, and through various initiatives and partnerships. The Foundation aims to improve lives and contribute to a more inclusive society.Make It Work HK is a platform by The French Chamber Foundation. Its mission is to empower the city’s working poor by providing them with tools that will improve their well-being & livelihood.
Make It Work provides employment services such as career assistance, training, job matching, as well as mental healthcare to accommodate those with need for a supporting community.
Make It Work has also launched a new scheme this Fall on employment supporting services for low-income families, mainly to assist young mothers who are re-joining the working community, providing support to families with children where necessary.
