EVENT DESCRIPTION

‘Magic Tea House” is an original family-friendly show at the Xiqu Centre’s Tea House Theatre. The story of this new regular programme follows a young musician who grew up abroad and returns to Hong Kong. When sorting through various stage props left behind by her great-grandfather, the musician begins a magical encounter with the spirits of her ancestor who inspire her to appreciate Xiqu, Chinese music and traditional culture and values.

Combining live performance and recordings, the programme transforms the Tea House Theatre with arts tech. It’s also the first live Cantonese opera performance in Hong Kong to feature an AI-controlled robot. Don’t miss this brand-new innovative introduction to Cantonese instrumental music and southern Chinese xiqu!

Patrons will get a complimentary drink from “Daily Tea Time by Don’t Yell at Me” or “LockCha Tea Shop” after the show.
