Contemporary by Angela Li proudly presents solo exhibition of Leung Po Ying, Agnes titled “Giant Consort Diaries”, featuring her latest series of acrylic paintings.

Leung takes her inspirations from everyday moments as the base of her creative endeavours. Her artworks blend her personal free-spirited nature with a touch of vintage comic style, guiding viewers towards her insights into human nature. She excels at distancing herself from conventional perspectives, carefully observing the minutiae of life, and infusing her unique awareness into her paintings, resulting in her instantly recognisable and distinctive style. Her works are not only depictions of imaginary scenarios or reimagined experiences but also contemplation of human relationships, emotions, and humanity itself.

Leung’s philosophy of happiness revolves around her gratitude towards life. She embraces the subtle details of life and records them with humour and joy. Her narratives and visual expressions create a whimsical and energetic atmosphere, capturing those small yet immensely joyful moments that bring people together. When people enter the world created by Leung, even the most reserved and serious individuals cannot help but reveal unrestrained smiles.

“Giant Consort” is the name of Leung’s studio. The bursts of energy from her works and her passion towards ordinary daily moments are highly contagious. Her brush carries not only pigments but also her simple and optimistic nature. Her paintings are brimming with vitality, reflecting her insights into human nature, guiding viewers into a space filled with endless imagination.

ABOUT THE ARTIST / ORGANISER

Leung Po Ying, Agnes (b. 1997, Hong Kong) received a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) degree from the joint programme by RMIT University and Hong Kong Art School in 2020. She uses her artistic practice to study the peculiar creatures she sees in daily life and arising from her imagination. Leung’s works have been shown in exhibitions including: “Interwoven: Hong Kong Art Meets London”, London, UK, 2023; “Confluences of Voices”, Hong Kong Arts Centre, 2023; “Healing Creation”, Art Central Hong Kong solo project, 2023; and “Anything Anywhere”, Contemporary by Angela Li, Hong Kong, 2022.

Upon her graduation, Leung has received several awards, including: Art Tu: Gallery Fine Art Awards, Mr. Jerry Kwan Memorial Scholarship, Boon Lee Award and Fresh Trend - Contemporary by Angela Li Award.
