About Event
“All About Us” is a precious chance to speak for diversity and break down the boundaries and stereotypes of race, language, and gender. Community screening will be held at Tsim Sha Tsui Lemna of the Alchemist Café with 3 short films: The Poem of Pakistan directed by Ryan Chan Hon-yan and co-produced with All About Us members, Where are you? and Before it’s too late by All About Us students.
Programme followed by a post-screening discussion. Free registration with limited seats a first-come-first-served basis.
“Poem of Pakistan”

Hamid, a young Pakistan, is an insurance and investment broker. No matter how hard he tries, he finds it hard to be part of the society. He works hard to earn a living and has to take shortcuts sometimes. While handling a medical claim issue, he gets to meet a Pakistan youth who loves Pakistani literature. This encounter brings back Hamid’s memories of his homeland and his family, leading him to reflect on his current way of life.

Suicide angel Jon falls in love with Nat, a mortal woman who is an anti-suicide counsellor. Knowing that Nat is also having suicidal thoughts, Jon struggles between completing his job and giving up his immortality to save her.
About Speaker
Wong Yuk-ying Sonia, Based in Hong Kong, Sonia Wong now teaches at the Gender Studies Programme, at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her research interests include lesbian identity, female sexuality, film, new media, and local history. In 2013, she founded Reel Women Hong Kong, the first and only independent film festival in Hong Kong devoted to the promotion of female-created films and gender awareness. In 2018, she founded the first Women’s Festival in Hong Kong with Eaton HK and Sally Coco. Apart from being a film festival organiser and academic, she is also a poet, writer, and visual artist. In 2019, Sonia was invited to serve as Jury Member for “Taiwan Competition” at the 26th Women Make Waves Film Festival Taiwan.
