EVENT DESCRIPTION
This Summer let’s enjoy the beauty of nature by discovering the unique and peaceful melodies through leaf flute whistling
The art of playing the leaf flute (leaf whistling) has a long history and is one of the precious intangible cultural heritages. You can easily make a simple natural instrument with just a slice of leaf and play beautiful melodies. The touching sound given by nature will tempt you to explore the possibilities of leaves.
To be led by a professional nature ecology and leaf flute instructor, Holis Lam, the workshop will begin with a short walk in the woods where you can get close to nature and learn about various types of trees. Starting with a single slice of leaf, you will make use of different senses to understand the art of the leaf flute, enjoy the leaf flute whistling demonstration, learn the whistling techniques, and try on your own to play the beautiful melodies of nature. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have the opportunity to pot a golden pothos plant and experience the joy of cultivating “leaf flutes” at home, while nurturing a deeper connection with nature.
