Gaia Art Space Hong Kong is pleased to announce the solo exhibition “The Art of YOU” by artist Lai Meiting.
Artist invites art enthusiasts to embark on a journey through the realms of human experience at the upcoming exhibition. This exhibition showcases the artist’s evolution and exploration of themes deeply rooted in the essence of existence and promises to be a feast for the senses.
Among the works featured in the exhibition is “Venus on the Grass,” a reinterpretation of a classical subject through a modern lens. With its wheat-colored skin and contemporary makeup, the titular figure exudes an aura of enigmatic beauty, while the surrounding elements weave a narrative that transcends time and space.
Drawing inspiration from the ephemeral nature of life and the intricate beauty found in the mundane, Lai Meiting captures moments through the medium of painting, immortalizing them on canvas for generations to come. In a recent interview, the artist shared insights into her creative process, emphasizing a profound connection to the world around them:
“I usually enjoy taking photos to document moments, as well as collecting interesting snippets, images, or scenes such as street views, markets, or a scene from a banquet, or even a movie frame. These often provide material for my future creations.”
In a world characterized by rapid change and transience, Lai Meiting finds solace in the act of painting, using it to preserve and reflect upon the essence of human existence. ABOUT THE ARTIST / ORGANISER
Born in 1983 in Dongguan, Guangdong, now lives in Hong Kong. She graduated from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 2006.Her sketches were collected by the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts while she was studying at the university.
Oil painting "The Bedroom" was selected for the National Female Painter Exhibition in 2019.
