This year marks over a century of one of the most revered and renowned classical opera composers, Giacomo Puccini. The Peninsula Hong Kong has partnered with the Dante Alighieri Society Hong Kong and the Consulate General of Italy in Hong Kong to present and premiere an unprecedented opera performance of one of Puccini’s beloved operas, La Bohème. The singular event will take place aboard the World Star, a beautifully renovated Star Ferry, for a special Afternoon Tea on the Harbour cruise on Sunday, 28 April 2024, from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm.

This remarkable operatic masterpiece is adapted for a contemporary Hong Kong audience in collaboration with Dante Alighieri Society Hong Kong. The performance will feature a cast of exceptional vocalists, including coloratura soprano Etta Fung, tenor Chen Yong, baritone Isaac Droscha, and mezzo-soprano Ashley Chui.

‘La Bohème’ tells the bittersweet story of a group of impoverished young artists living in Paris in the mid-19th century. The work combines humour, romance and tragedy, happiness and sadness, in a relatable story of youth during a period of self-discovery.

‘La Bohème Opera Recital Afternoon Tea Experience on the Harbour’ promises to be an unforgettable experience as guests will be served with a specially curated Italian themed Peninsula Afternoon Tea, featuring fine savoury bites, sweet surprises, coffee, signature Peninsula teas, and herbal infusions. Special beverage choices, premium wines and Champagnes will also be available at additional cost.

The event will provide a truly captivating Italian opera dining experience with the breathtaking vistas of Victoria Harbour as the backdrop. Guests will also have the opportunity to capture these magical moments with The Peninsula Hong Kong’s exclusive AR filter, whilst they could share their creative photos and enjoyable memories with friends on social media platforms.
