Joël Odesser: Urban Pop Odyssey – Dualities of Metropolitan Life

Joël Odesser is proud to announce his upcoming Photography Collage exhibition “Urban Pop Odyssey: Dualities of Metropolitan Life”, in partnership with Artaflo Collective Gallery, as an Associated Project with Le French May 2023 festival.

This exhibition will associate Joël’s urban abstract light collage works with the works of another French Artist, Maxime Balchère, both works combined adding layers of colors onto large scale cityscapes.

As Joël puts it, we all have a dual relationship with the places we live in: cultural and visual identities often make us proud and grow in us to become an integral part of who we are, while the ongoing frustrations of living in pressuring and crowded environments sometimes consume us from inside. In simple terms, we have a love and hate relationship with our urban environments, and these contrasts are precisely what is transpires from these curated artworks.

ABOUT THE ARTIST / ORGANISER

Joël Odesser is a French visual artist and photographer. His passion was rooted in early childhood, having grown up in a family of photographers. Joël finds inspiration from places and cultures where he lives and travels. Having settled in multiple continents has shaped his eye and photographic expression to be fascinated by contrasts, conflicts and interactions between people, saturated urban environments, and Nature. Collage techniques of overlapping photographs help him express these complicated relationships.
