The Courage It Takes To Truly Live
The Life of Avant-garde Artist Derek Jarman

Derek Jarman: film-maker, painter, gardener at Prospect Cottage, gay rights campaigner, writer… his influence remains as strong as it was on the day AIDS killed him in 1994. English actor Mark Farrelly presents his vibrant portrait of this avant-garde artist, whose life is a passionate, daring reminder of the courage it takes to truly live while you’re alive.

Jarman’s works include taboo-breaking films like Sebastiane, Jubilee and Caravaggio, pop videos for the Pet Shop Boys (It’s A Sin and Rent), his extraordinary borderless garden in Dungeness, his shocking last paintings, and his unforgettable final film Blue, consisting of a single continuous frame of blue, chronicling what it’s like to lose your sight…but never your artistic vision.

JARMAN is a poetic and beautifully uplifting one-man show written and performed by award-winning English actor Mark Farrelly. It follows his previous solo plays portraying other iconic English figures, most notably Quentin Crisp: Naked Hope. His shows are performed constantly across the UK and beyond.

“JARMAN” by Mark Farrelly  will be held at 8pm on January 26 and 27 (Friday and Saturday) and 3pm on January 27 and 28 (Saturday and Sunday). It will be performed in English with Chinese surtitles.

The programme contains adult content and is recommended for ages above 14.
