Being diagnosed and navigating the cancer journey is challenging for everyone. Finding effective ways to cope and express emotions is an essential part of the journey. The Hong Kong Cancer Fund understands these challenges and offers a range of FREE professional support services to help cancer patients and their families. Among these services, Art Therapy, is a powerful tool for stress relief and emotional healing, providing much-needed support.
Ivy’s story is one of resilience and strength. Diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer in 2021, she successfully completed several rounds of chemotherapy and surgery. However, in mid 2022, her cancer returned and metastasized, presenting new challenges. In her cancer journey, Ivy found solace and support through the Cancer Fund’s Art Therapy programmes, including ‘Inner Beauty – Art Therapy Group’ and ‘Visual Journaling’.
Ivy shared, “Art is such a powerful tool—it helps me stay calm and improves my emotional well-being. I am deeply thankful for the support from the Cancer Fund and the encouragement from Hoi Lam, the art therapist, which has enabled me to hold an exhibition titled ‘Life is Beautiful.’ Through her artwork, Ivy hopes to share her journey and encourage others going through similar challenges. “I want my exhibition to not only showcase my art but also inspire others to stay positive and rebuild their self-esteem,” she said.
