EVENT DESCRIPTION
Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) will showcase the latest innovations from over 20 park companies at the HKSTP Pavilion at InnoCarnival 2022. The immersive and multi-sensory displays will demonstrate to the public how today’s cutting-edge innovation and technology (I&T) can transform the way they live and work.
Taking place from October 22 to 30 at the Hong Kong Science Park in Shatin, InnoCarnival 2022 (IC 2022) is organised by the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) of the HKSAR Government, with the aim of promoting I&T culture in the community. Themed “Innovation & Technology empower our dreams”, the nine-day event welcomes the whole community to enjoy a wide range of interactive and educational activities, including a showcase of local innovations and research achievements, InnoTech online workshops, online seminars and interactive games.
The HKSTP Pavilion will demonstrate the impact of I&T through a unique concept of “Beyond Five Senses Experience Zone”. Visitors will be immersed in a wide range of technologies in a series of hands-on “See”, “Smell”, “Hear”, “Taste” and “Touch” interactions to show how I&T can improve overall quality of life and bring broad benefits to the society. Created by HKSTP together with over 20 park companies, the goal is for the interactive and fun-filled I&T experiences at the HKSTP Pavilion to spark greater interest in I&T among students and young people, while igniting their entrepreneurial spirit.
HKSTP believes that talent is crucial to the development of I&T in Hong Kong. The innovations on show at the Pavilion aim to inspire and empower the city’s youth to become the next generation of innovators. Young people can also reimagine their future with the unlimited opportunities brought by I&T as the career of tomorrow. HKSTP has been propelling success for 20 years, and the home-grown innovations displayed at the HKSTP Pavilion are proof that the Science Park ecosystem is empowering tech ventures to translate ideas and great research into market-ready solutions that benefits our daily lives.
In addition, the “City I&T Grand Challenge: The Showcase” will also be held during the InnoCarnival. Organised by ITC together with HKSTP under the theme “Innovating for Hong Kong’s New Normal” in 2020, the City I&T Grand Challenge invites different sectors of the community to develop I&T solutions focusing on “environmental sustainability” and “social connectivity”. Twenty-five winners from the university/tertiary institutions and open groups received support from the ITC. Upon training and solutions refinement for over half a year, teams have successfully transformed their innovative ideas into prototypes, which will be revealed to the public at IC 2022 for the first time through real-life scenarios.
